Marching Band
2007
The 2007 Band of Blue Production of War and Peace
deals with struggle and pain of war and the promise and hope
of peace. In Glory, we explore the honor
of the 54th Massachusetts Regiment and the valor they showed
during our nations bloodiest wars – The Civil War. In
Peace we take you back to the Summer of Love
1967 and the debate and turmoil our nation went through as it struggled
to understand why we need peace. In Mansions of the
Lord, we hear the haunting reminders of our soldiers giving
the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
I quote from the words of this hymn: To fallen soldiers let us sing, where no rockets fly nor bullets wing, Our broken brothers let us bring to the Mansions of the Lord. No more bleeding, no more fight, No prayers pleading through the night, just divine embrace, eternal light in the Mansions of the Lord. Where no mothers cry and no children weep. We will stand and guard though the angels sleep, All through the ages safely keep the Mansions of the Lord. This is just a brief glimpse of what we are trying to convey – That WAR is awful and that PEACE is what we all want! The music in this show is very exciting, dramatic and will be fun! Our drill as usual will lend itself to a lot of new ideas and will be very competitive and challenging. Our show will be very fast paced and very different!, yet it will be very understandable and will hit home!
