Congratulations to the Colleton County High School Winter Concert
Percussion Ensemble.
The ensemble won the
bronze medal and place third in the 2009 SCBDA Winter Ensemble
Championships held this past Saturday, March 21 at Clover High
School. They performed “Millennium” written by Chris Brooks.
The ensemble is made up of percussionist in grades 9-12 at Colleton
County High School. Their instructor is Greg Hall.

SCBDA STATE
CONTEST
BAND OF BLUE PLACED 10TH
The
Band of Blue placed 10th out of 12 4A State Finalist Bands this past
weekend at the SCBDA State Marching Band Championships at
Batesburg-Leesville High School. The Band of Blue will
perform at the Homecoming game this week on October 31.
The Band of Blue is also sponsoring a "Command Performance" for
Colleton County on Monday night, November 3rd at 7:00 PM at
Cougar Stadium. This is a wonderful way for all of the Band of
Blue friends, family and supporters to see the show for the last
time.
Thanks to all the parents, volunteers and friends that
support the Band of Blue. Special thanks to Tim and Valeria
Mabry for providing a cookout for the band this past Saturday.
The Band of Blue is currently finishing a pecan sale and has begun
its annual fruit sale. See any Band member to order your
holiday fruit.

The
Band of Blue finished 3rd out of 14 Lower State Bands this past
weekend at the SCBDA Lower State Marching Band Championships at West
Ashley High School. The Band of Blue won the music caption in
their division. The
Band of Blue is now one of 12 bands that will compete for the SCBDA
State Championship at Batesburg Leesville High School on October 25.
The Band of Blue is tentatively scheduled to
perform at 7:45 PM.
Thanks to all the parents, volunteers and friends that
support the Band of Blue. Special thanks to Calvert and Tonya
Smalls for providing our post performance meal at West Ashley. Plan
on traveling to Batesburg and cheer on our BIG BLUE at
STATE!

WINS DIVISION 4
BUT
FINISHES 2ND OVERALL!
The
Band of Blue won the Division 4 Classification at the 2008 Bands
Across the Savannah. The Band of Blue also took caption awards
in horn line, color guard and percussion in their class. The
Band of Blue placed second overall out of 21 competing bands in the
prelims and 2nd in the Finals being edged out by reigning 2A State
Champion Silver Bluff. The Band of Blue took high music awards
in the finals.
The Band of Blue will compete at the South Carolina Band Directors
Association Lower State Championships at West Ashley next Saturday,
October 18. The Band of Blue Performs at 2:15 PM. Please
come out and bring a friend and cheer on our BIG BLUE at Lower
STATE!

The

Low Country Invitational
Contest at Wando. Our Color Guard won the High Guard Caption.
The Band of Blue will compete at the Band Across the Savannah
Contest at North Augusta next Saturday at 5:15 PM
2008 Band Classic Recap
The Band of Blue hosted the 30th Annual Walterboro Band Classic this
past Saturday! Congratulations to all of the bands that
performed.
Band of Blue WINS at Bamberg!
The Band of Blue won the Grand Championship Award at the 2008
Carolina Lowcountry Tournament of Bands.
The Band of Blue also won the Red Division (including Class 3A and
4A),
Class 4A and took top honors in Drum Major, Drum Line, Color Guard
and Horn Line captions. This was the first competition for the 2008
Band of Blue and the first time the band had performed their entire
program, HEROES.
The Band of Blue will host the 30th annual Walterboro
Band Classic this next Saturday, September 27, 2008 starting at 2:00
PM.
The Band of Blue will perform at 8:20 PM.
